Zimbabwe’s now high rising and outstanding Chief Executive Officer from the remote Agro Town of Gokwe, Jabulani Gute has proved beyond reasonable doubt that the word remote is only meaningful if one is not shining in the darkness of the situation.

Jabulani Gute now the proud winner for the third time in a raw, has done it for the people of Gokwe and collectively the province of Zimbabwe’s Midlands, with outstanding awards that will forever put Gokwe permanently on the world map for successful work and outstanding achievements for the remote Midlands provincial town.

Gute is the proud winner of the following achievements for his hardworking in Gokwe, Midlands 2024 CEO winner of the year, in Diamond, Gold and Platnum winner CEO of the year 2025, becoming the golden national winner of the year ahead of all CEOs in the country.

Gute is also the outstanding winner of the Local Authority leader of the year 2025, a national prize for achievers and outstanding leaders in local authorities’ divisions in the country.

Gokwe South RDC Holds First Full Council Meeting

Gokwe South Rural District Council successfully conducted its first full council meeting, bringing together council leadership, management, and councilors to deliberate on key issues affecting the district.

During the meeting, various matters concerning the operations and development of the council were discussed in detail. These included service delivery, revenue collection, infrastructure development, and community welfare.

The council also focused on mapping the way forward, outlining practical strategies and action plans to ensure effective implementation of council programs and policies. Emphasis was placed on accountability, teamwork, and improving service delivery to the communities of Gokwe South.

The meeting marked an important step in strengthening governance and ensuring that the council remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of serving the people efficiently and effectively.

Councilor Chevedza Recognized for Outstanding Performance in LDL Collection

Councilor Chevedza of Ward 19 has emerged as the overall winner for the 2025 LDL (Local Development Levy) collection, outperforming all 33 councilors within the district. His exceptional commitment, consistency, and dedication to duty have significantly contributed to improved revenue collection and service delivery in the area.

In recognition of his tireless efforts and outstanding achievement, Councilor Chevedza was awarded a token of appreciation—a brand new Samsung F16 smartphone. This gesture serves as a symbol of gratitude and encouragement for his hard work, perseverance, and exemplary leadership.

His achievement stands as an inspiration to fellow councilors, highlighting the importance of commitment and accountability in public service

Gokwe South RDC Conducts Junior Councillors Workshop

Gokwe South Rural District Council successfully conducted a two-day workshop for junior councillors, bringing together 33 young representatives from all 33 wards across the district.

The workshop was facilitated by two trainers from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, who guided participants through key topics aimed at strengthening leadership skills, governance understanding, and community engagement.

Commissioning of Motorbikes for Gokwe South RDC

On 7 March 2026, Gokwe South Rural District Council held a commissioning ceremony for 45 motorbikes aimed at improving service delivery across the district.

The event was officiated by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province, Hon Owen Ncube, who commended the council for investing in resources that enhance mobility and efficiency among council officials.

Out of the 45 motorbikes commissioned:

43 motorbikes were allocated to ward councilors to enable them to effectively reach communities and monitor development activities within their respective wards.

2 motorbikes were allocated to the Revenue Department of Gokwe South Rural District Council to strengthen revenue collection and improve operational efficiency across the district.

The commissioning of the motorbikes is expected to enhance accessibility to remote areas, improve communication between councilors and residents, and support efficient service delivery throughout the district.

Gokwe South RDC Convenes State Function Committee Ahead of Motorbike Commissioning

Gokwe South Rural District Council held a State Function Committee meeting in preparation for the commissioning of 45 motorbikes that will be allocated to councillors to enhance service delivery within the district. The meeting was chaired by Assistant District Development Coordinator (DDC), Madam Dera.

The meeting was attended by representatives from various government departments as well as members of the ruling party, demonstrating a coordinated approach towards the successful hosting of the state function.

In her opening remarks, Madam Dera stressed the importance of thorough planning, effective coordination, and adherence to state protocol to ensure that the commissioning ceremony is conducted in an orderly and dignified manner. She noted that the provision of motorbikes to councillors will improve their mobility, enabling them to reach all wards more efficiently, particularly remote areas, and better represent the needs of their communities.

The committee deliberated on key aspects of the upcoming event, including the programme outline, logistical arrangements, security, protocol, and stakeholder responsibilities. Sub-committees were tasked with specific roles to ensure that all preparations are completed on time.

The initiative is expected to strengthen grassroots governance and improve communication between the council and local communities. The State Function Committee reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a well-organized commissioning ceremony that reflects the government’s commitment to improved service delivery and rural development.

Gokwe South RDC Holds Second Finance Committee Meeting 25 February 2026

Gokwe South Rural District Council convened its second Finance Committee meeting for the year 2026 to deliberate on key financial matters and strategic issues guiding the operations of the Council.

The meeting focused primarily on the review and approval of the 2026 budget, with members carefully assessing revenue projections, expenditure estimates, and departmental allocations to ensure alignment with the Council’s development priorities and service delivery mandate.

During the deliberations, the Committee emphasized:

Prudent financial management and accountability
Strengthening revenue collection mechanisms
Prioritization of capital projects and service delivery programs
Sustainable budgeting to support community development initiatives

The Finance Committee also discussed other pertinent issues affecting the smooth running of the Council, including resource mobilization strategies, cost containment measures, and the implementation status of ongoing projects.

Members reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, efficiency, and responsible governance in steering the Council forward. The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap aimed at enhancing financial stability and improving service delivery across the district.

Gokwe South RDC Officials Assess Zhamba Community Hall Completion

The Chief Executive Officer of Gokwe South Rural District Council, Mr. Jabulani Gute, together with the District Development Coordinator, Madam Mushauri, the Council Chairperson, Mr. A. Karikoga, and the management team, accompanied by the Technical Services Department, conducted a field visit to Zhamba community to assess the newly constructed community hall in Ward 3.

The hall, built through the Council’s Plough Back initiative, is a key community project under the oversight of Ward Councillor Mr. Manhibi. During the visit, the officials carefully inspected the facility to review the status of completion and ensure that the construction meets the required standards.

The exercise demonstrates Gokwe South RDC’s commitment to monitoring development projects, ensuring quality, and supporting community infrastructure that benefits local residents. Officials praised the work completed so far and encouraged all stakeholders to maintain high standards to achieve timely and successful project delivery.

Tank Installation at Ngomeni Primary School – Ward 5

Gokwe South Rural District Council successfully carried out the installation of a water storage tank at Ngomeni Primary School in Ward 5 as part of its ongoing initiative to improve access to safe and reliable water within the district.

The project was implemented in response to water challenges affecting the school and surrounding community. The newly installed tank will ensure a consistent supply of clean water for drinking, sanitation, handwashing, and other essential school activities. This development is expected to enhance hygiene standards, reduce the risk of waterborne diseases, and create a healthier learning environment for pupils and staff.
