GOKWE SOUTH RDC MANAGEMENT CONDUCTS MONITORING AND EVALUATION VISITS

Gokwe South Rural District Council management conducted monitoring and evaluation visits to the Gwehava solarised borehole in Ward 19, Mbumbusi Valley Side School, and Nyaje Road to assess the progress, functionality, and impact of development projects across the district.

The visits were conducted as part of Council’s ongoing efforts to monitor project implementation, evaluate service delivery, and ensure that resources invested in community development are delivering the intended benefits to residents.

The exercise was attended by Mr Chivaraidze, the Chief Executive Officer’s Performance Assessor, whose presence supported the monitoring and evaluation process in line with performance management and accountability objectives.

Through these visits, Gokwe South RDC continues to strengthen project oversight, promote accountability, and ensure that development initiatives contribute meaningfully to improved service delivery and the well-being of local communities.

GOKWE SOUTH RDC CONDUCTS CEO PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

Gokwe South Rural District Council is conducting a two-day Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Performance Assessment exercise facilitated by Mr Chivaraidze.

The exercise seeks to evaluate performance against set targets, assess progress in achieving institutional objectives, and strengthen accountability, efficiency, and service delivery within the Council.

The assessment reflects the Council’s commitment to good corporate governance, effective performance management, and continuous improvement in service delivery for the benefit of the people of Gokwe South.

GOKWE SOUTH RDC CONDUCTS BUDGET CONSULTATION AT BENGWE BUSINESS CENTRE

Gokwe South Rural District Council (RDC) conducted a budget consultation meeting at Bengwe Business Centre as part of its ongoing community engagement programme for the preparation of the 2027 Annual Budget.

The meeting provided an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to share their views, identify pressing community needs, and propose development priorities to be considered in the upcoming budget.

The consultation was attended by a Junior Councillor, demonstrating the importance of youth participation in local governance and decision-making processes. The participation of young leaders provides an opportunity for them to understand Council operations and contribute to discussions on community development and service delivery.

Gokwe South RDC continues to encourage active participation from all stakeholders, including young people, to ensure that the 2027 budget reflects the needs and aspirations of the communities it serves.

The consultations are aimed at providing a platform for stakeholders to contribute their views, identify key community needs, and propose priority projects and service delivery areas to be considered in the preparation of the Council’s 2027 Budget.

All stakeholders are encouraged to actively participate and share their ideas to ensure that the 2027 Budget reflects the needs, aspirations, and development priorities of the communities we serve.

GOKWE SOUTH RDC — COMMITTED TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.

Gokwe South Rural District Council (RDC) conducted a three-day strategic planning and performance review workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, with technical support from facilitators from the Public Service Commission (PSC).

The workshop provided an important platform for Council to review and assess its strategic direction, institutional performance and progress towards achieving its annual targets. The sessions brought together key Council stakeholders to reflect on achievements, identify implementation gaps and strengthen performance management systems.

Key areas reviewed during the workshop included the Council Strategic Plan, Annual Plan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Performance Contract and the Mayor’s Performance Framework. Participants assessed progress against set objectives, targets and performance indicators, while identifying areas requiring improvement and strengthening accountability across the institution.

The facilitators from the Public Service Commission provided guidance on strategic planning, performance management, target setting, monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that Council’s plans and performance frameworks remain aligned with national local government priorities and service delivery objectives.

The workshop also provided an opportunity for Council leadership and management to identify key priorities for the coming period, strengthen coordination between political and administrative structures, and develop practical measures for improving service delivery to the residents of Gokwe South.

The three-day engagement reaffirmed Gokwe South RDC’s commitment to effective governance, accountability, performance excellence and improved service delivery, while ensuring that the Council’s strategic objectives are translated into measurable results for the communities it serves.

GOKWE SOUTH RDC CONDUCTS FINAL COUNCIL MEETING FOR 2026

Gokwe South Rural District Council yesterday conducted its final Council meeting for the year 2026, bringing together the Council leadership, management and relevant stakeholders to deliberate on key issues affecting the district.

The meeting provided an important platform for Council to **review progress made during the year, assess the implementation of key programmes and projects, and deliberate on major issues requiring attention as the year draws to a close.

Among the key matters discussed were service delivery, infrastructure development, revenue collection, financial management, community development, environmental management and the implementation of Council programmes and projects. Council also considered strategic priorities and measures aimed at strengthening service delivery and improving the welfare of communities across Gokwe South.

The meeting further provided an opportunity for Council to reflect on the achievements and challenges experienced during 2026 and to identify key priorities for the coming year.

The Council leadership reaffirmed its commitment to good governance, accountability, transparency and effective service delivery

, while emphasising the importance of continued collaboration between Council, communities, Government departments, development partners and other stakeholders in advancing the development of Gokwe South District.

The final Council meeting therefore marked an important milestone in closing the 2026 Council calendar while laying a firm foundation for the 2027 planning and development agenda

JUNIOR COUNCILLORS EXECUTIVE TEAM UNDERGOES CAPACITY BUILDING

The Junior Councillors Executive Team participated in a capacity-building programme facilitated with the assistance of ARC, aimed at equipping young councillors with a better understanding of how local authorities operate and how Council conducts its day-to-day activities.

The training focused on key aspects of local governance, Council administration, decision-making processes, the roles and responsibilities of councillors, and the importance of effective community representation. The programme provided the Junior Councillors with practical knowledge on how Council structures function and how councillors contribute to the development and delivery of services within their communities.

As part of the practical learning experience, the Junior Councillors were given an opportunity to attend and observe a Council meeting. This enabled them to gain first-hand experience of how senior councillors deliberate on key issues, make decisions, provide oversight and conduct Council business.

The exposure provided the Junior Councillors with valuable practical experience and an appreciation of the responsibilities associated with leadership and public service. It also created an opportunity for intergenerational learning, allowing the young councillors to learn from the experience of senior councillors.

The initiative demonstrates Gokwe South RDC’s commitment to developing future leaders, promoting youth participation in local governance and strengthening the capacity of young people to contribute meaningfully to community development.

Gokwe South RDC Commissions New Service Delivery Equipment

Gokwe South Rural District Council has strengthened its service delivery capacity following the commissioning of two Nissan Navara single-cab vehicles and one front-end loader on 6 August 2026.

The two Nissan Navara single-cab vehicles were procured through Devolution funding, while the front-end loader was acquired with funding from the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA). The commissioning ceremony was officiated by the Hon. Owen Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, who officially handed over the equipment to the Council.

The newly acquired vehicles and machinery are expected to enhance the Council’s operational capacity and improve service delivery to communities across Gokwe South District. The Nissan Navara vehicles will support Council operations, including field activities, monitoring of projects and programmes, and other essential service delivery functions.

The front-end loader will significantly strengthen the Council’s capacity to undertake road maintenance, rehabilitation, earthworks and other infrastructure development activities within the district. Its availability will reduce reliance on hired equipment and enable Council to respond more efficiently to road and infrastructure needs.

The commissioning of the equipment demonstrates the Government’s commitment to the Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda, which seeks to empower local authorities with resources and equipment to improve service delivery at community level.

Gokwe South RDC remains committed to utilising these resources responsibly and efficiently to improve infrastructure, enhance service delivery and contribute to the sustainable development of communities across the district.

Gokwe South Rural District Council has successfully procured a new front-end loader using funds provided through the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA). The acquisition marks a significant milestone in the Council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery and improve infrastructure development across the district.

The new front-end loader will play a vital role in the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads, earth-moving projects, drainage works, and other public infrastructure. It will also enhance the Council’s capacity to respond efficiently to emergencies, carry out road maintenance programmes, and support community development initiatives.

Speaking on the development, Council management expressed appreciation to ZINARA for the continued support, noting that the equipment will improve operational efficiency, reduce reliance on hired machinery, and enable the Council to deliver quality services to residents in a timely and cost-effective manner.
